Poland: India's star javelin thrower and national record holder Annu Rani made a powerful statement at the 8th International Wiesław Maniak Memorial meet in Szczecin, Poland, by clinching gold with a season-best throw of 62.59m.
The 32-year-old athlete began her campaign with an impressive 60.95m throw and quickly followed it up with her best of the day — 62.59m — in her second attempt. She capped off her remarkable performance with yet another 60m-plus effort — 60.07m — in her sixth and final throw.
This marked the first time in over a year that Annu Rani has registered multiple throws over the 60-meter mark, signaling a strong return to form ahead of future international competitions.
Rani currently holds the national record of 63.82m, set in 2022. Her victory in Szczecin came at a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze-level meet, boosting her confidence as she approaches her 33rd birthday on August 29.
With this gold medal, Annu Rani continues to shine as one of India’s premier track and field athletes, reaffirming her status on the global stage.
