Where Was Justice?
— By Afzal Ahamed Malik
Where was justice when the skies turned red,
And bombs rained down where children slept?
When cradles burned and toys lay still,
Who spoke for lives the war did kill?
Where were the hands to stop the flame,
Or hearts that wept at war’s dark name?
The world just watched — some cheered, some turned,
While innocence in silence burned.
The flags were raised, the speeches made,
But under ash, whole futures laid.
A mother screamed, “What was their crime?”
Her echo lost in news and time.
In Gaza’s dust, in Ukraine’s snow,
In Yemen’s cries the rivers flow.
In Sudan’s fear, in Syria’s night,
Hope bleeds beneath the loss of light.
The child knew not of oil or land,
He only reached for someone’s hand.
But justice came with chained delay,
And truth was priced too high to pay.
Oh world of power, wealth, and pride,
How long will conscience choose to hide?
Your silence louder than the gun,
The war is lost… but who has won?
