Part A: Detailed Aptitude Syllabus
1. General English
This section tests fundamental grammar, vocabulary, and language comprehension skills. The covered topics include Articles, Clauses, Pronouns, Homonyms and Homophones, Tenses, Punctuation, Synonyms and Antonyms, Analogies, Idioms and Phrases, and the correct Uses of Prepositions.
2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs (India)
Candidates are evaluated on national awareness, general science, and historical facts. Key areas comprise:
- Important dates and events in Indian History and the Freedom Struggle.
- Firsts in the World and India regarding Adventure, Sports, and Discoveries.
- Popular names of personalities across Religion, Politics, Scientific Discoveries, Geography, Sports, and History.
- The Newspaper World focusing on current dailies and weeklies of India, along with general Books and Authors.
- Famous places in India, languages, and world capitals and currencies.
- International organizations, specifically the United Nations (veto powers, member country counts, principal organs, and their functions), SAARC, and ASEAN.
- Everyday Science, alongside world-famous and national awards in Science, Literature, and Sports.
- The world of sports, climate and crops in India, the Constitution of India (Formation, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles), democratic institutions, forms of government, and political and physical divisions of India and the world.
- Important rivers and lakes in India, current national and international events, agriculture and industrialization in economic development, Centrally Sponsored Schemes (guidelines and objectives), and Indian Foreign Trade.
3. General Knowledge with Special Reference to J&K
This topic covers regional knowledge specific to Jammu & Kashmir. It encompasses abbreviations, important dates, popular personalities and their contributions, local weather, climate, crops, transport networks, major power projects, and their impact on the J&K economy. Additionally, it highlights rivers, lakes, primary tourist destinations, history and historical places of J&K, the RTI Act, the Indus Water Treaty and its economic impact, agriculture and industrial development, as well as current local, national, and international events.
4. Numerical and Reasoning Ability
Testing primary mathematical concepts and application-oriented reasoning, this section covers two major components:
Basic Arithmetic: Number System, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Speed, Distance and Time, Mathematical Reasoning, Basic Algebra, Mensuration, Decimal Fractions, Simple and Compound Interest, Trigonometry, and Simplification.
Reasoning Ability: Number Series, Letter Series, Coding-Decoding, Direction Sense, Blood Relations, Statements and Conclusions, Logical Reasoning, Mental Reasoning, Sequential Output Tracing, Assertions and Reasons, and Arithmetical Operations.
5. Basic Concepts of Computers
Candidate understanding of computer concepts and practical applications will be assessed across: Computer Terminology, Hardware and Software, Input and Output Devices, MS Word and MS Excel, Storage and Operating Systems, Safety and Security, E-mail and Internet Usage, and Search Engines.

- Porifera: General characters and classification up to classes; Canal System.
- Cnidaria: General characters and classification up to classes; Polymorphism in Hydrozoa.
- Helminthes: General characters and classification up to classes of Platyhelminthes and Nemathelminthes; Life history of Taenia solium and Ascaris lumbricoides; Parasitic adaptations.
- Annelida: General characters and classification up to classes; Filter feeding in Polychaetes.
