◇ Other names - Satadru or Satudri.

◇ Called Langechan Khambab in Tibet.

◇ Rises from Rakas Lake situated near Mansarovar lake in Tibet.

◇ At the pass of Shipki la it enters HP where it cuts through Zaskar and Himalayan ranges.

◇ Below Bhakra Dam it enters in Punjab plains.

◇ It meets Beas in the south-west corner of Kapurthala.

◇ From Ferozepur to Fazilka it forms boundary between India and Pakistan.

◇ During it onward journey, it receives collective drainage of Ravi, Chenab & Jhelum River.

◇ It joins Indus few Kms above Mithankot.











The Sutlej or Satluj River is the longest of the five rivers that flow through the historic crossroads region of Punjab in northern India and Pakistan. 

Baspa is an important tributary of the river Satluj in its upper courses. The Baspa is joined by many smaller channels draining snow melt waters. The Baspa river has cut across the main Himalayan range. Thereafter it empties itself into the river Satluj in district Kinnaur.

It is the easternmost branch of the Indus River. The source of the river is at Lake Rakshastal in Tibet, near Mount Kailas. It flows generally west and southwest through the region of Punjab. The region to its south and east is dry, and is known as the Thar Desert.
