• India has been selected in Asia-Pacific States category. Other elected countries include Oman, Afghanistan & Kazakhstan.

• It is United Nation Economic & Social Council
• Members- 54 member
• Established- 26 June 1945 by a United Nations charter.
• Headquarters: New York US, Geneva.
• Important Functions: Being the heart of UN system, Promotion of high standards of living, full employment, economic & social progress, identifying solutions for global economic, social & health problems etc.
