- Indian doctors of Army Hospital in Delhi Cant successfully conducts India's first Bone Marrow Transplant on December 17, 2023.
- A life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant for a child diagnosed with a rare primary immunodeficiency disorder.
- The patient, a 7 years old boy, was diagnosed with ARPC1b, a very rare form of immunodeficiency at one year of age.
- The Army Hospital conducted a Matched Unrelated Donor transplant within six months of being referred to the hospital.
- The procedure aimed to replace the defective immune cells with healthy ones.
Genrobotics Ranks Top 3 in Global AI Summit
- Genrobotics, a Kerala-based startup, has emerged as a frontrunner in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for social change on December 17, 2023.
- The company achieved significant recognition by being adjudged among the top three AI startups in India at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023.
- Genrobotics clinched the ‘AI Game Changers‘ award at the summit for its groundbreaking G-gaiter Robotic Technology.
- G Gaiter is tailored for individuals contending with mobility challenges stemming from conditions like stroke, spinal injury, accidents, Parkinson’s disease, etc.
Vice-President Inaugurated Atal Health Fair (Health)
- Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the two-day-long Atal Health Fair at the PNT Ground in Rajajipuram, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on December 17, 2023.
- Atal Health Fair organised in the memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha Dr Dinesh Sharma also graced the occasion.
- Akashvani Correspondent reports that 48 Government and private hospitals are holding medical camps at the fair.

Khelo India Para Games Concluded (Athletics)
- The first-ever Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) concluded in New Delhi on December 17, 2023 with Haryana winning the inaugural title.
- Haryana won 105 medals included 40 gold, 39 silver, and 26 bronze medals.
- KIPG 2023, which began on December 10 (2023), witnessed the participation of around 1,450 para-athletes from across the country.
- Uttar Pradesh came second with 62 medals including 25 gold, 23 silver, and 14 bronze, while Tamil Nadu finished third with 20 gold, 8 silver, and 14 bronze medals.
- Athletes from 32 states and Union Territories participated in the Games.
Khelo India Games to be Held in Tamil Nadu (Sports News)
- It is announced on December 17, 2023 that Khelo India Games will be held in Tamil Nadu in January next year (2024).
- The State Government said that the games will be held in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy from 19th to 31st January, 2024.
- More than 5500 sports persons and over 1600 coaches are expected to participate in the event and for the first time, squash will be included in Khelo India games.
- More than 1000 referees and 1200 volunteers will be part of the sporting event in which 27 types of sport will be played.

Surat Diamond Bourse Inaugurated
- PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), touted as the world’s largest office space in a single project, on December 17, 2023.
- Located in Gujarat, the 15 floors complex surpasses the US Pentagon in capacity, boasting 4200 diamond trading offices.
- SDB aims to shift and expand the diamond trading business from Mumbai to Surat, known for diamond cutting and polishing.
- The bourse, built at DREAM (Diamond Research and Mercantile) city, covers an area of 66 lakh square feet, costing ₹3200 crore.
2nd Phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 Inaugurated
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 at Namo Ghat in Varanasi on December 17, 2023.
- Apart from launching many development projects worth around ₹20000 crore, he flaged off another Vande Bharat express train from Varanasi.
- The first batch of Tamil delegation named after the sacred river ‘Ganga’ reached the holy city of Kashi (Varanasi) to attend the 15-day-long second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam.
- Prime Minister also flagged off the Kanyakumari - Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train on the occasion.
