37 More Products Brought under SCS
- The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of Department of Telecommunications has brought 37 more products under Simplified Certification scheme (SCS) on January 3, 2024.
- This will reduce the time taken for certification from eight weeks to two weeks and promote ease of doing business.
- These products include media gateway, IP security equipment, IP terminals, optical fibre or cable, transmission Terminal Equipment, etc.
- The total products under SCS have now gone up to forty-nine from twelve.
- Presently, there are 60 Telecom and Networking products which have been notified under MTCTE regime.
First All-Girl Band lrom North-east to Take Part in NCC-R Day Camp
- Director General of NCC Lt. Gen Gurbirpal Singh informed on January 3, 2024 that a band, comprising 45 girls from the North East will participate in NCC-R Day Camp for the 1st time.
- The girls belonging to the age group of 13 to 15, will represent the rich cultural heritage of the North East, and showcase the reach of the NCC to every nook and corner of the country.
- A total of 2274 cadets, including the highest participation of 907 girls, from across the country are taking part in the month-long National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp.
- The DG NCC underlined that the aim of the Republic Day Camp is to provide exposure to the rich traditions of the nation and strengthen the value system of the cadets.

- Felix Tshisekedi appointed as President of the Democratic Republic of Congo on January 3,2023.

- The election faced significant issues, including delayed openings of two-thirds of polling stations and malfunctions in 30% of voting machines on the first day.
- Millions of voters endured long waits, with some ultimately abandoning the process.

- Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, AVSM, NM took charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command (WNC) on January 3, 2024.
- A Command ceremonial parade was held at INS Shikra on the occasion of Change of Command of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.
- SJ Singh succeeds Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.
- Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh was earlier the Vice Chief of Naval Staff.

'SMART 2.0' Launched (Health)
- 'SMART 2.0' programme launched for Ayurveda Teaching Professionals on January 3, 2024.
- Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) along with National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has launched 'SMART 2.0' programme.
- Aims of it is to promote robust clinical studies in priority areas of Ayurveda with Ayurveda academic institutions and hospitals across the country through mutual collaboration.
- CCRAS is an apex organization for the formulation, development and promotion of research on scientific lines in Ayurveda, functioning under the Ministry of Ayush.
