North Korea Demolished Symbolic Unification Arch
- North Korea destroyed a significant monument known colloquially as the Arch of Reunification on January 24, 2024.
- The monument (around 30m tall and 61.5m wide) stood above Thongil (Unification) street in Southwest Pyongyang.
- It expressed the goal of reconciliation with South Korea with hopes for Korean reunification, which was achieved during a landmark inter-Korea meeting in 2000.

Surya Kumar Yadav
- The ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2023 was awarded to Indian batsman Surya Kumar Yadav on January 24, 2024.
- In this category, this was his second consecutive win.
- In 17 innings, Yadav averaged 48.86 with a strike rate of 155.95 during his incredible 2023 T20 International cricket season.
- On his debut as the Indian T20 captain, he guided his team to a 4-1 series victory over Australia in December.
Rohan Bopanna
- Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna made history on January 24, 2024 by being the oldest player to occupy the top spot in the men's doubles rankings.
- In the 2024 Australian Open quarterfinals, with Australia's Matthew Ebden defeated the Argentine duo of Máximo González and Andrés Molteni in straight sets.
- Over two decades had passed since Bopanna's debut.
- As per the International Tennis Federation, Mike Bryan was the oldest men's doubles No. 1 until his run ended in 2019.
Rachin Ravindra
- Rachin Ravindra, a young cricketer from New Zealand, was named the ICC Men's Emerging Cricketer of the Year for 2023 on January 24, 2024.
- Following an incredible ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in India where he accumulated a staggering 578 runs, Ravindra defeated South Africa's Gerald Coetzee.
- He also defeated Sri Lanka's Dilshan Madushanka, and India's Yashasvi Jaiswal to win the coveted accolade.
- Only Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Quinton de Kock scored more runs than Ravindra, who had the highest total of any New Zealand player in the competition with 578.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
'Exercise Desert Knight' Conducted (Defence)
- The Indian Air Force, the French Air and Space Force, and the United Arab Emirates Air Force conducted Exercise Desert Knight over the Arabian Sea on January 24, 2024.
- The IAF contingent included aircraft such as the Su-30 MKI, MiG-29, Jaguar, AWACS, C-130-J, and Air to Air Refueller.
- While the UAE Air Force operated the F-16, France participated with the Rafale fighter plane and a Multi Role Tanker Transport.
- The Ministry stated that improving coordination and interoperability throughout the three Air Forces was the primary goal of Exercise Desert Knight.
