Bharat Ratna to Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur
- PM Modi on January 23, 2024 expressed delight over the government's choice to award the Bharat Ratna to the illustrious Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur.
- This esteemed award is a tribute to Karpoori Thakur's tireless work as an advocate for the underprivileged and a pillar of empowerment and equality.
- He will be the 49th recipient and 15th to be accorded posthumously.
- This announcement has been made on the eve of 100th birth celebration of Late Thakur i.e. January 24.
- Karpoori Thakur served as the CM of Bihar for a short while – from December 1970 to June 1971 and from December 1977 to April 1979.
Central Government Launched ‘Anuvadini’ App
- The central government on January 23, 2024 launched the "Anuvadini" app, an AI-based platform, with the goal of encouraging multilingualism in education.
- The project intends to provide digital study materials—in Indian languages included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution—for all courses.
- This measure corresponds with the suggestions made by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which highlights the significance of learning in one's native tongue.
- Study materials in regional languages must be made available in Department of School Education, the AICTE and UGC.

India is World’s Fourth Biggest Stock Market
- The total market value of companies registered on Indian stock exchanges was $4.33 trillion as of January 23, 2024.
- India's market rise has been driven by global capital inflows together with favorable domestic growth prospects.
- India now has the fourth-largest equities market capitalization in the world, surpassing Hong Kong for the first time.
- This accomplishment highlights the fast rise in the Indian stock market, which in only four years saw its market capitalization double from $2 trillion.

Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2024
- 60 Parachute Field Hospital in Uttar Pradesh was chosen to receive the Subhash Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award for 2024 in institutional category on January 23, 2024.
- This award was announced by the Union Ministry in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the area of disaster management.
- The institutional category winner receives a certificate and a cash prize of ₹ 51 lakh.
- A certificate and ₹ 5 lakhs in cash are given in the instance of a person.
BCCI Awards 2024
- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Awards 2024 ceremony was held in Hyderabad on January 23, 2024.
- Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, and Ravichandran Ashwin were the leading recipients of the accolades in 2022–2023; 2021–2022; and 2019–2020, respectively.
- A fantastic year was capped by Ashwin's second Polly Umrigar Award and the best wicket total in the India vs. West Indies Test series.
- Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma were acknowledged for their exceptional performances during the previous five seasons by the women's awards.

- Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the book “Assam’s Braveheart Lachit Barphukan,” in Guwahati (Assam) on January 23, 2024.
